2) A Wedding Tradition Explained!

"An Early American Superstition"

People carry all sorts of superstitious tokens with them as they go down the aisle. Most of us are familiar with the something old, new, borrowed and blue tradition, but there are many others. One early American custom was for the bride to pin a small bag or sachet into the petticoat or crinoline of the skirt of her wedding dress. This little bag contained a small piece of bread, cloth, wood and a single one-dollar bill. The tradition goes that the bride was making sure that there would always be enough food, clothing, shelter and money for the wedding couple in the future.

3) Kim's Wedding Tips!

Kim Bosch van Drakenstein, Owner/Founder of First Dance Impressions & Social Dance Instructor I am in love with Blinc! This is the newest mascara on the market. It will not smudge! You can cry all you want and it will not smear. Being a dancer I have always had a problem with mascara running because of the sweat factor and am always checking the mirror to make sure that I have not metamorphosed into a raccoon. This problem is history. The only problem is that it is removed with water and pressure so you can't touch your lashes. Buy some on ebay to get the best price and see for yourself! It's great!

4) Kim's Wedding Dance Tip

"Let Your Dad pick out the song for the Daddy-Daughter Dance!"

Mr. Mandeville dancing with his daughter at her wedding
"I just wanted to say we did
awesome because of you!
Thanks again, Jen Duncan"

Bride's Father's often have a lot handed to them during the planning of the wedding, but once it starts they have to take a back seat to the new man in your life. It is fine to make suggestions as to which song you would like to dance to and he may be touched by your choices, but remember that your father might have a song in mind. Since it is his big moment at the wedding, you should let your dad have some say in the matter. So what if he wants old time Rock and Roll, the "Lion King" Song or an old Frank Sinatra tune from his youth, it doesn't matter. Let him pick the song. He will move better to music he knows well and likes, and will be much less nervous about dancing in front of the crowd. Look at my students smiling and laughing as Jen comes out of a spin her dad led. They did not have as many lessons together as the Bride and the Groom did but her dad felt great dancing to a song that he loved and could really get into!.
