This issue's celebrities are waving to the crowd. Coming down the stairs we have Alec Baldwin & Kim Basinger and from the balcony Prince Philippe Belgium & Mathilde dŽUdekem dŽAcoz.

2) A Wedding Tradition Explained!

"Why do friends of the Bride and the Groom sit on opposite sides of the church?"

When you arrive to attend a wedding the usher will ask "Bride or Groom?" Friends of the Bride are seated on the left and friends of the Groom are seated on the right. This tradition dates way back to the time when marriages were used to heal and cement relations between hostile tribes. Highly placed fathers would offer their daughters' hand as peace offerings to the noble sons of warring tribes. Because of the innate hostility, the families were placed on opposite sides of the church so the ceremony could be performed without bloodshed. The ceremony united the two warring factions into one family, hopefully resolving the danger of war.

3) Kim's Wedding Tips!

Kim Bosch van Drakenstein, Owner/Founder of First Dance Impressions & Social Dance Instructor
Often it is more cost effective to have the groomsmen act as ushers as well. General rule of thumb is one usher for 50 guests, but if you have more ushers/groomsmen the whole process will flow more smoothly. They should be told to help the elderly guests to their seats. If the mothers of the Bride and Groom are not in the ceremony itself then they are normally escorted down the aisle on the arm of an usher. If one of the couple has a much larger family than the other, ushers should lead people who are friends of both to sit on the side of the smaller family to even things out and avoid having things looking lopsided.

4) Kim's Wedding Dance Tip "Spin the Bride!!"

Our students Tim and Heather dancing their 1st Dance.

It is my belief that all women love to spin in a big dress and our wedding gown generally will have a bigger, more swirly skirt than anything else in our wardrobe. When we spin around and the skirt flares out suddenly the woman feels beautiful. It takes us back to age 5 twirling in our mother's dress and we smile like a happy child. Additionally we stop thinking and leading. I give the guys I teach marching orders to spin the girl at least 5 times over the course of the song. This is a minimum quota! When in doubt, spin her again! The only warning I would give is that since the skirt will turn more slowly that the Bride, be sure to take several steps before spinning her again. If the gown is very big a double spin will result in having the dress wrapped around her legs too tightly.

5) Group Classes

Our teachers run events and perform locally on a regular basis.

Your dream dress may well be out on a rack somewhere but how many will you have to try on? How many anxious sales people will you have to talk to who are more interested in getting rid of last year's fashion than in creating your dream? At Casa Mauricio it all starts with you. Julia Elena of Casa Mauricio has been designing elegant and stunning wedding gowns for years, and you can trust her to help you create your dream dress. At Casa Mauricio all dresses are crafted to the bride. Each gown Julia Elena creates is totally unique. Julia Elena is offering a free personal design consultation to those Brides who mention First Dance Impressions. She is available by appointment only. Each consultation feature attention to 5 salient points.

1) THE EVENT - a dress for a garden wedding is not the same as for a formal evening event. The dress sets the tone for the whole wedding.
2) THE PERSONALITY OF THE BRIDE - Who are you and what is your dream vision of how you want to look?!
3) THE BODY TYPE - Since each gown is made to order it will be a perfect fit, designed to highlight your best features.
4) BUDGET - Julia Elena is a designer, not a sales clerk working on a commission. She is interested in creating the perfect dress for you that you can afford.
5) PERSONALIZED COLOR ANALYSIS- an often overlooked yet crucial step in the selection of your dress. Julia Elena is highly experienced in ascertaining which shades of white (and there are many - diamond, peachy, cream, yellow, blue...) will set off your skin tones to advantage.
